Do schools kill creativity? If creativity was a person schools would be it's concentration camp! I think that young people are going through a creativity holocaust perpetrated by teachers especially ones who hate their jobs. Everyone who agrees this is a disgusting inconvenient truth give me a thumbs up. BTW I'm only twenty years old and I understand this.

I find it offensive that you would besmirch the reputation of JT Gatto by associating him with the horrible fraud and irrationality found on some of your links posted on the right. Gatto is not a conspiracy theorist, nor is he a nut job. He is an incredibly accurate analyst and critic of state-run education. To associate Gatto with these looney conspiracy nuts does him and his movement more harm than any criticism of his work. SHAME on you!

Conspiracy theory is not a couple of dirty words. Conspiracy normally means "One or more people conspiring to bring about change by secret and subversive methods." These changes are normally political/social. What Gatto describes is a conspiracy to shape people into useful servants of the dominant system. Individual creativity is not desirable to production. Factory owners do not like day dreamers. In fact denouncers of Conspiracy theories are the type of drones that education produces.

So very true. I used to think that schools hired "the best and brightest" as teachers. NOT! They hire complacent robots who will spew the party line. I'm always amazed how invariably, public school teachers lack a basic ability to think critically!! ITS FRIGHTENING!

This is great movie. I'm on my final year of college now, but I remember my years of public education well. Those places are not about learning, they are about doing work and drills. I hated the time I spent in school with a passion.

There is no legitamate spreading of knowledge going on in schools across the US..... Im not a Bible-hugger, nor a radical anything, nor some "liberal" or even some crazy hippie......I just like information... Sadly, Gatto is no genious. He correctly notes the gambit, but attaches it to a defunct patsie (as most tools of Rome do).

I'm grateful that I went to a private school in both elementary and high school. The classes were divided by how fast you learned, and individual tutoring was offered in every subject regardless of track you're in.
